Lanier
Matoaca Middle School
Chesterfield County
Coached by Helen Allen-Taylor
Lanier was nominated by teammate Fleming who wrote:
Lanier is the best nominee because she is intelligent and brings many fresh new ideas to our group. She inspires all of us to work hard because she shows us how enjoyable FPS is. In team problem solving situations she makes us calm in competition and makes our papers the best they can be. Every minute [Lanier] runs around helping us get the tools we needs. This is why our group nominated Lanier.
Middle Division
Negron
Manchester Middle School
Chesterfield County
Coached by Colleen Hokanson
Negron was nominated by teammate Ensley who wrote:
Negron is a wonderful teammate and definitely deserves the Wythe Medallion. He always researches the topic in great depth. He doesn’t just type into Google, he targets his research, coming up with very useful information. During the writing of the booklet, [Negron] always comes up with lots of creative, original, and futuristic ideas. Lastly, he is always there to help. If we need someone to go back and write more challenges, he volunteers first. Because of all of these reasons, and many more, I believe Negron deserves to win the Wythe Medallion.
Senior Division
Dutilh
JEB Stuart High School
Fairfax County
Coached by Sandra Evans
Dutilh was nominated by teammate Blount who wrote:
For seven years Dutilh has pushed her Future Problem Solving teams to excel. She has kept morale high, lent a helping hand (or pencil) to teammates struggling on completing challenges and solutions, and kept the team on task. Her support and dedication has led the team to the international area, where she supported them even without being able to go. With her constant words of support and upbeat attitude, [Dutihl] has served as a wonderful leader and teammate for the team.
